Here we are presenting the £250 raised at Quartet to Lostwithiel Town Band:
Our May film will be Quartet, directed by Dustin Hoffman and starring Maggie Smith, Tom Courtenay, Billy Connolley and Pauline Collins.
At a home for retired musicians, the annual fundraiser concert is disrupted by the arrival of Jean, an eternal diva who previously performed with three of the residents but then split to pursue a solo career. Can the passage of time heal old wounds and will the famous quartet be able to patch up their differences in time for Beecham House's gala concert?
The Daily Express describes it as "A charming, beautifully acted character comedy that proves you're never too old to say 'never'" while Rolling Stone said "Hoffman uses all he's learned as a virtuoso actor to shape a film of flesh-and-blood characters, flushed with humor and tenderness".
Quartet will be shown on Monday 27th May, at the Church Rooms, Church Lane, Lostwithiel. Doors and bar open 7pm, film at 8pm. Tickets cost £4 for adults and £2 for under 18s, and are available online now or in advance from Watts Trading or on the door if not already sold out.
