Our October Screen 2 film will be Nae Pasaran...
Documentary about workers at a Rolls-Royce factory in East Kilbride, Scotland, who refused to work on Chilean Air Force parts due to the atrocities carried out by the Pinochet dictatorship.
The film tells the story of four Scotsmen who, along with their workmates, downed tools and refused to service and repair engines for the Chilean air force’s British-made Hawker Hunter planes. Following Chile's return to democracy, three of the four were awarded the highest honour which the Chilean government can bestow on foreigners, the Order of Bernardo O'Higgins, at the rank of Commander (Comendador).
“There are some unexpectedly moving moments in an understated film that gets much of its charm from the down-to-earth decency of the characters.” Observer
“It's a good story well told, with an ending more moving than you'll expect even if you're a practised hanky-reacher in humane tales from the factory floor.” Financial Times
Tickets cost £4 for adults and £2 for under 18s, and are available online now or in advance from Watts Trading or on the door if not already sold out.
